Field Trips

Italy offers a wide variety of extraordinary stratigraphic successions and settings in breath-taking natural environments. The congress is a great occasion to see excellent outcrops with the guide of the most experienced stratigraphers. The position of Milano and the good connection to the rest of the country and Europe offer the opportunity for extensive field trips, ranging from one day up to 4 days and covering most parts of Italy.

The following field trips have been selected by the Field Trip Committee of STRATI 2019 and organized by Eravel Service S.r.l.:

PRE-Congress field trips:

FT3. Stratigraphy and facies of the Triassic-Jurassic boundary interval and of Mesozoic Oceanic Anoxic Events in the Apennine carbonate Platform (southern Italy) (2 days). Field Trip leaders/co-leaders: M. Parente, A. Iannace, S. Amodio.

FT4. Stratigraphic successions in Campania active volcanic areas (3 days). Field Trip leaders/co-leaders: P. Petrosino, C. Scarpati.

FT8. The pelagic succession of the Lombardy Basin: a Jurassic journey at Colle di Sogno (1 day). Field Trip leaders/co-leaders: E. Erba, F. Jadoul, C. Bottini.

 

POST-Congress field trips:

FT11. Permian and Triassic sedimentary basins from Sicily (3 days). Field Trip leaders/co-leaders: P. Di Stefano, S. Todaro.

FT12. Cambrian palaeoenvironments, biotas and boundaries in South-Western Sardinia (Italy) (2 days). Field Trip leaders/co-leaders: G. Luigi Pillola.

FT15. A journey from shallow to deep water facies in a Triassic carbonate platform: sedimentological expression of the demise of a carbonate system (1 day). Field Trip leaders/co-leaders: F. Berra, F. Jadoul.
