Tourist information

Milano is a city with an eclectic spirit that can please everyone: those who seek for art and those who prefer food, recreation or business. Located in North Italy, Milano is often referred to as the Italian "capital of industry, commerce, finance, fashion and design". The history of the town dates back to Roman times. Such a long history is well documented by monuments and churches. Milano was also visited by several artists, especially during the Middle Age and the Renaissance, whose masterpieces are preserved in several Museums.

While you are in town, you can't miss a sightseeing to the Duomo, Teatro alla Scala, Castello Sforzesco, 'The Last Supper' by Leonardo da Vinci and "Pietà Rondanini" by Michelangelo. Famous historical buildings are Sant'Ambrogio Church (379-386), the oldest church in Milano, and San Marco Church (1254), while among modern buildings, Bosco Verticale was declared in 2015 the "Best Tall Building Worldwide". You can also visit a great variety of Museums, such as the Brera Academy and picture gallery, the Natural History Museum, the Modern art "Triennale" Museum and Museo del 900. Milano is also home of some of the world's most famous fashion brands such as Valentino, Gucci, Versace, Prada, Armani and Dolce & Gabbana.
Among the traditional food, you must try in Milano's local restaurants the Cotoletta alla Milanese (the original Wiener Schnitzel) and Risotto alla Milanese (risotto with saffron and cross-cut veal shanks).
